During its ongoing fifth session on April 24, the National Assembly approved an extension of tourist e-visas from 30 to 90 days, which will come into effect on August 15, 2023.
Once granted an e-visa, foreigners will have the flexibility to enter and exit Vietnam an unlimited number of times within the 90-day period, eliminating the need to apply for a new visa each time.
Citizens of countries unilaterally exempted from visas by Vietnam will now be granted temporary residence for 45 days, an increase from the previous 15-day period. They will also have the opportunity to be considered for visa issuance and temporary residence extensions based on relevant regulations.
With an overwhelming majority of 95.14% in favor, the 15th legislature approved amendments and supplements to several articles of the Law on the Exit and Entry of Vietnamese Citizens, as well as the Law on Foreigners’ Entry into, Exit from, Transit through, and Residence in Vietnam. This law will take effect on August 15, 2023.
